[Solved] Just wanted to let people know that I used the script and
instructions here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1046137
and put
options snd-hda-intel model=auto
at the bottom of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and sound works now.
