ubuntu-minimal expresses the minimum set of packages that counts as a
supported Ubuntu system. If you replace the system log daemon, you no
longer have a supported Ubuntu system - it just varies too much. You're
completely entitled to remove ubuntu-minimal, and that simply shows that
you are now managing your base system yourself.
So, sorry, I don't intend to change this.
