Same problem in my ubuntu 10.4. Solved hacking on
'/usr/share/rdesktop/keymaps/it'.
I've changed this two lines:
braceleft 0x08 altgr
braceright 0x0b altgr
with the two below:
braceleft 0x1a shift altgr
braceright 0x1b shift altgr
Now curly braces on my keyboard are working.
