This bug should be reopened. I have a "Suyin HP Webcam" on my HP Pavilion dv7-1232NR with Ubuntu Lucid 2.6.32-23-generic (64 bit). The webcam works fine after a reboot, but suddenly stops responding. The modprobe commands actually make the problem worse; after sudo modprobe -r uvcvideo and sudo modprobe uvcvideo, Cheese Webcam Booth reports "no device found." But the camera is still connected:
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 064e:c107 Suyin Corp.
