Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openoffice.org
I'm using OpenOffice 3.1.1 under Ubuntu 9.10.
I use Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP as my default document format. I often
use paragraph formats with space above and/or below the paragraph.
I often find that OpenOffice inserts additional carriage returns in my
documents. I have found this with both versions 2.4 and 3.1 of
OpenOffice.
A typical example is:
1. I copy a table from a PDF document and paste it into an OpenOffice
document.
2. I edit the table to delete the unnecessary carriage returns, so that
each line appears in a single paragraph.
3. I save the document.
4. When I reopen the document, numerous carriage returns have been
inserted so that one paragraph has been broken into two or more
paragraphs, or there is an extra carriage return between paragraphs. The
extra carriage returns seem to be added in the space between words,
rather than randomly within words.
I tried without success to upgrade to OpenOffice 3.2, in the hope that
that would solve the problem.
I tried to attach some documents and screen shots that illustrate the
problem, but errors occurred on the bug report page. I can email them to
you, or put them up on a web page where you can access them.

Leon Arundell
