Not sure if this is related to the symbols issue, but after installing
linux-backports-modules-alsa-2.6.32-23-generic, my internal microphone
switches correctly, but inserting a logitech USB headset (which was
detected properly before) results in the whole system locking up (can't
even ctrl-alt-f1) but no kernel crash because I can still hear music
playing until I power cycle the machine.

I found some crash details in /var/log/messages (see attached). I
suppose I should file a separate bug, how do I do that for a packing in
proposed?
