I can confirm the others' comments for a Dell Latitude E6510 on Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid), even on kernel 2.6.32-23. The Alps GlidePont entry disppeared from the Pinting Devices settings menu on my laptop as well. I appreciate your work on fixing this - I'm a linux newbie but willing to do tests if you tell me what i need to do.
