This also confused me, but looking at the script itself the purpose of the
powernowd script is not always to launch the powernowd daemon....
For instance if the ondemand governor is being used the powernowd daemon will
not be started; you can check what governor is being used by issuing the
following command in a terminal:
sudo cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
** Changed in: powernowd (Ubuntu)
Status: Unconfirmed => Needs Info
