Public bug reported:

Hi

I am using Ubuntu Lucid (fresh installation) in my computer with ATI
Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200 PRO] graphics card and two monitors.
Right after the installation was completed I found that two monitors
were showing the exact same screen. Other than this everything was
working just fine. I noticed the default visual effects. And then I
wanted to use the monitors in dual head mode (two monitors as a single
desktop). I opened the 'Monitor Preferences' and uncheck the 'Same Image
in All Monitors' button and got the desired result - single desktop
spanned in two monitors (dual head). Everything was working except all
visual effects were gone and the login screen still uses two monitors
for drawing the same screen. Then I opened 'Appearance', and tried to
setup the 'Normal Visual Effects' from 'Visual Effects' tab. But the
visual effects were not activated.

I'll appreciate it much if someone can help me.

Thanks.
