I get this on Karmic from time to time on my Dell Inspiron 9400. I also have nvidia card. The frustrating thing for me is that it sometimes works, and then I know that I can generally keep suspending and resuming so long as I don't reboot. I did get a new ureadahead, ufw, libc6-bin (plus various other probably ignorable updates eg cups, chrome, menu, some libs) since it last worked successfully.
People experiencing this problem, try running 'sudo pm-suspend' from a virtual terminal (ctrl+alt+f1, then login at the text prompt). What I find is that if I suspend from a text terminal, the suspend will succeed. On resume the video card does not appear to initialize successfully, but this is a matter of Alt+F7, to switch back to X. However as I mention above, sometimes it will succeed in X too. I confirmed this behaviour on 2.6.31-22, 2.6.31-21, and 2.6.31-20, definitely one of those kernels has worked for me in the last. -- Suspend/Hibernate Fail https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/506719 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
