The issue here is, that there's a gap instead of a menu that's not
supposed to be there in the first place.

*) Example gedit:

I don't have a plug-in enabled that causes the "Tools" menu to show up
in the original menu bar. What I'm seeing when starting gedit: the
"Tools" menu is there for the blink of an eye and then transforms into
the (expandable, but empty) gap. That gap transforms back to a "Tools"
menu, once I re-focus or unminimize gedit.

If I enable a plug-in that causes the "Tools" menu to show up (eg. the
color picker), everything's fine. Not sure how to activate the "Tools"
menu in rhythmbox but I guess it would work fine too.

*) Example gnome-terminal:

The "Tabs" menu is only supposed to show up if there's more than one tab
open - in that case everything's fine, but upon start there's only one
tab open, so the "Tabs" menu shouldn't be there. What I'm seeing instead
is the same as with gedit, just that the expandable gap/menu isn't empty
(see screenshot).

Using appmenu-gtk 0.1.1-0ubuntu1 (maverick) + UNE.
