Public bug reported:
My system starts giving error messages in kern.log and eventually
becomes completely unresponsive to all but a ping from another machine.
Usually it's when I'm trying to do some video encoding with mencoder,
though not always.
I know nothing about kernel errors, but thought maybe it was a problem
with paging requests and so reformatted my swap partiition...that didn't
help. At various times tainted process has been kswap, knetworkmanager,
mencoder and others. The only consistency I can find is that CPU 3
keeps showing up in the error messages (the CPU is a Core i5 750).
I'd be more than happy to provide further information if requested.
