Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: preload

System specs: Dell Inspiron 510m laptop, Pentium M w/256mb ram, Feisty
with all updates.

If preload is installed on my system and I try to reprofile readahead
(adding "profile" to the grub kernel parameters"), preload will pollute
readahead's profiling process and slow down the boot process. The most
obvious way to see this happening is that firefox and other non-
essential files for booting will appear in /etc/readahead/boot - without
preload on my system, such files never appear in readahead's lists after
a profiling.

I propose a system by which preload can detect if readahead is
performing a reprofile at boot, and deliberately stop itself for that
session. At the next boot, preload can become operational again, and
hopefully readahead will have created a more effective list.
