Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
Downloaded CD of Ubuntu 10.04 and installed. Login screen looked fine, but when I logged into my account I did not have panels at top and bottom of screen. I signed up for Ubuntu installation support and have been helped by Ubuntu support people. The case number is 00010980, and the case contains documentation of the things I have tried with the help of support. As a part of that I filed an earlier bug report, number was 598481. I'm filing another bug report because Ubuntu support suggested that I do so. At this point the video seems to be working well, evidently thanks to the xorg.conf file suppled to my by Ubuntu support.
