Public bug reported:

Installing onto an old system (like PIII-800MGz) with PCI S3 Trio cards 1-2Mb
video memory (1995-1997) makes the final system not usable out of the box:
Initial boot progress page is broken: http://agafonov.pp.ru/S3Trio-2V.jpg ,
http://agafonov.pp.ru/S3Trio64.jpg
Then, xorg is filed to start with settings provided by install system (system
is set up with default options). Logs show up all screen modes are not
supported by hardware (S3 driver) so no usable screens found.
Manually setting 800x600 as maximum resolution with DefaultDepth 16 in
xorg.conf makes xorg to be able to run and show the gdm gui.

     Importance: Undecided
