it still affects me completely. in ubuntu 10.10 Alp.1, too. After upgrading to the latest ubuntu maverick software, it still does. however, the driver (Ati FGLRX) that fixes it in 10.04 keeps me from changing brightness, and in 10.10 it cant be installed. but in the latest of ubuntu 10.10, its as it should, although if the laptop is unplugged, 10.10 thinks its unplugged. thinks its plugged in when i plug it in. but, if i unplug it while its running, it doesnt notice its unplugged. i cant keep u completely up-to-date because my hd spindle screwed (you guessed it right. its a seagate) and i have no portaable device for it to boot from, and im not sure where on the net to find a sata ahci.
