For some reason, COMPOSITE accelerated transparency is broken when using
compiz on Feisty (compiz-0.3.6-1ubuntu9, gnome-
terminal-2.18.0-0ubuntu1). When using the compositing manager in xfwm4,
the terminal background has proper live transparency, but when using
compiz gnome-terminal has returned to the old, fake, software rendered
transparency.
It's quite odd, since compiz's builtin compositing effects
(transparency, drop shadows, even snow) work perfectly fine. However,
the terminal must think there is no hardware compositing support and
fall back to its old software rendering method.
