a. when I ran the u1sdtool -q command on my laptop I got

ubuntuone-syncdaemon still running.

Ignoring this, I went ahead and removed syncdaemon.conf

After this I restarted Ubuntu One (Applications-->Internet-->Ubuntu One)
and things worked as if I was just installing Ubuntu One for the first
time. Namely, when I went to the web, the site asked me if I wanted to
register that machine for Ubuntu One.

After that, things seem to be working again.

I tried the same steps on my desktop machine, and the client now runs,
but I cannot "register" this machine as being connected to my Ubuntu One
account and it does not show up on the website under "Computers
connected to this account."

** Changed in: ubuntuone-client (Ubuntu)
