Binary package hint: dpkg
This occurred while doing an upgrade to 10.04. The upgrade was initiated
after installing 9.10. Process was as follows:
Insert Live CD (Ubuntu 9.10)
- format, partition, and install all packages for 9.10.
- Restart machine.
- Install hardware drivers
- Shutdown machine.
- Wait 1 minute.
- Start machine.
- Upgrade Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04 via "Upgrade," menu button in System >
Administration > Upgrade
All processes completed correctly (by appearance), up to the
installation of packages. Then the "Package Problem," error messages
began to appear. There were several error messages. This is one of many.
I'm trying to report them all, so you may want to reference the others
as well.
I have had 10.04 installed and functioning correctly previously. While
attempting to install SAMBA on the prior installation, I ran into error
messages stating that the system could not recognize or access
///Network (or something similar). I opted for a clean install, backed
up all of my data, and then began the aforementioned process.
Thank you.
