I'm affected by this, too. Two issues, to be precise:
- When I work normally (e.g. right now, CPU usage negligent) the temps of the
two cores are ~55*C. I suppose that is high for a normal non-CPU-bound work
- When I suspend or hibernate the computer, it happens (though I don't think
it's always the case) that the CPU temp goes really high under the same
conditions. As I have a laptop cooler underneath, I suppose it helps a bit, so
the temps go to ~80-85*C with <10% CPU load at all times

The CPU fan is working, but always at a constant rate and very low speed
(I did not reach the 90*C range selectstar did, so it may be working
otherwise when it starts to melt). It's not a CPU fan issue, as in
Windows it did increase the speed when needed.

Unfortunately, this one doesn't have any of the HECI chips (Mobile PM965
- PCI ID 8086:2A04 - would probably be the one to match the rest of the
hardware). It's also based on the ICH8 SMBus (82801H), for which no lm-
sensors support exists at the moment (per http://www.lm-
sensors.org/wiki/Devices). Related threads
http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/19417 and
http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/19616 discuss similar problems and some
additions to 2.6.35 kernel that might be related. I did try the hecl-qst
test application and the OpenAMT HECI module out of curiosity, but got
the expected result that /dev/heci is a non-existent device. lm-sensors
detect only coretemp. Nothing in /proc/acpi/fan.

Let me know if there's a way I can help.

(As a side note, I'm a bit confused by the launchpad.net's relation with
apport-* tools... apport-collect told me not to upload my info to this bug as
it's easier to make a new one, so it can be quickly marked as a duplicate. Then
I ran apport-bug as suggested, which at the end asked me whether any of these
bugs are what I tried to report (and this one is), so it just subscribed me to
this one. So if your preference is any of this:
1 - me attaching the data to this bug using apport-collect
2 - me creating a new bug with apport-bug
let me know, so I do it. Otherwise, I guess the data selectstart uploaded seems
to match my A900 - A931NR well enough - not the same model, but roughly the
same peripherials.)
