I whitelisted the containing folders of the encrypted ones and re-ran
the scan. This time it went though its paces without a hitch.

I guess it is Cryptkeeper, as I have no encrypted files on my laptop
hard drive; just on two external hard drives. I'm also supposing, as my
desktop does not have Cryptkeeper installed that it's simply ignoring
them, as the encrypted folders are invisible to an OS without it.
