Public bug reported: Hello,
gstreamer-properties application fails to set the device name right. The device name is set and shown as "Unknown". This is not very helpful label, especially when the actual device does exist. See this picture: http://www.futuredesktop.com/tmp/audio-recorder/picture1.png The device name/description for audio source #0 and #1 are set to "Unknown". However the PulseAudio's "pactl list" command shows the device name/description right. http://www.futuredesktop.com/tmp/audio-recorder/picture2.png Source #0 State: RUNNING Name: alsa_output.pci-0000_04_02.0.analog-stereo.monitor <-- INTERNAL DEVICE NAME Description: Monitor of SB0400 Audigy2 Value Analog Stereo <--- SHOULD SHOW THIS Source #1 State: SUSPENDED Name: alsa_input.usb-046d_089d-01-U0x46d0x89d.analog-mono <- INTERNAL DEVICE NAME Description: QuickCam E2500 series Analog Mono (w/ microphone) <--- SHOULD SHOW THIS Example code 1 (GStreamer fails to set the name/description): http://www.futuredesktop.com/tmp/audio-recorder/t1.c Example code 2 (PulseAudio does it right): http://pulseaudio.org/wiki/SampleAsyncDeviceList ------------- Maybe related issue http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-list/2010-July/msg00074.html ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: gstreamer-tools (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-23.37-generic-pae 2.6.32.15+drm33.5 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-23-generic-pae i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: i386 Date: Mon Jul 19 12:14:02 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100429) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gstreamer0.10 ** Affects: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 lucid -- Missing device name in GStreamer/gstreamer-properties tool. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/607162 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
