Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager
I am on Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit Desktop edition. The computer I use is a Dell Vostro 200. I had a problem earlier, with update manager ( see "http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=355565", I am techningeer ). Now, I was using this computer and I saw that there was a warning logo in my panel. I clicked on it, as I have had some other errors up there also. This is what it said: " Could not initialize the package information An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message: 'E:Problem parsing dependency Depends, E:Error occurred while processing libpam-pkcs11 (NewVersion1), E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu .com_ubuntu_dists_lucid_universe_binary-amd64_Packages, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.' " I also had problems with unmet package dependencies, updates not able to be installed, update servers not available, etc. I have attached dpkg's log file. If you need more information, just let me know. Thanks! ( This could be a security risk as I couldn't install security updates.) ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: update -- update-manager won't update and won't install some updates https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/608493 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
