I got exactly the same issue with a Dell e6500 laptop. K3b and HAL are
installed in Lucid environment (not KUBUNTU).
It cannot erase CD-RW with an error message like "unable to unmount
medium".
After I manually umount the /dev/sr0 through command line, I can erase
it without problem.
Right click menu cannot help here, since it will eject the CD out of the
CDROM drive.
