@reason: broadcom uses firmware that is exclusive to microsoft. I think the easiest way to solve this is switch to a generic atheros or intel wifi card. The broadcom driver is proprietary hence it will take longer to resolve since broadcom does not seem to put sense of urgency to fix this.
