I have a laptop running Ubuntu 10.04, hooked up to an external monitor
via a KVM switch. I use System > Preferences > Monitors to enable the
external LCD and turn off the laptop LCD. When I switch away from Ubuntu
and then back, Ubuntu turns off the external LCD and turns on the laptop
LCD. I must open the laptop, go to System > Preferences > Monitors and
switch the display back to the external LCD.
