I am using Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid), and I downloaded "chocolate-doom" for the Synaptic Package Manager, letting it include its dependencies of course. I received the error above, and the solution I found was:
1. Download the 1.9 DOOM1.WAD file from here: http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/DOOM1.WAD 2.
