What I finally did to work around this (if I can remember correctly): I completely deleted my primary domain user's folder that I was concerned with. /home/Domain-Name/username I re-logged in as that user, allowing the machine to automatically create that users folder again. I copied/pasted the folders and contents that I needed into that folder and then I was off to the races.
I, then, created a new admin level local user on the machine and just stopped using the original local account. This account still has the problems but I moved all my content over to the new accounts.
