I don't think it a duplicate of bug #590963.
In that one it is reported that boot fails as part of the problem.
In my case it NEVER actually fails to boot.
Also, that is a bug report for 10.04 and mine is 10.10.
Although it may end up being the same problem I think a different ubuntu 
version brings in too many other variables to take into account.

Incidentally, on my own lucid install, there are no such problems but if
I install the lucid version of ureadahead on my maverick install I get
the same problems as with the maverick version.
