I don't think it a duplicate of bug #590963. In that one it is reported that boot fails as part of the problem. In my case it NEVER actually fails to boot. Also, that is a bug report for 10.04 and mine is 10.10. Although it may end up being the same problem I think a different ubuntu version brings in too many other variables to take into account.
