This affects me too! I had to reinstall Lucid because of some problems. I changed to the vesa driver by using a backup copy of xorg.conf from my previous install. However, I got this message at login. In my previous install, I had done some pretty complicated stuff which I don't remember to disable kernel modesetting and use the vesa driver, which I don't remember now. So I decided to use the fbdev driver. I found this in the xorg.conf.failsafe presumably output by ubuntu at some point. The driver loads and X starts up. From a functional point of view, I can't see much difference (as yet) between vesa and fbdev.
But the above problem does exist and I will be glad to provide config files etc. in case needed -- X wont start https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572818 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
