Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hamster-applet

PROBLEM

While the activity at the top of the "Add Earlier Activity" list is
selected by default (unless a mouseover event interferes with that),
this activity is not highlighted, leading one to press the down arrow
key to select it and then being bemused that it selects the second one
on the list instead.

HOW TO REPRODUCE

1. Open the Time Tracker window.
2. Move the mouse away from the part of the screen where the "Add Earlier
Activity" dialog will appear in step 3.
3. Press Ctrl-N to add an earlier activity.
4. Note that unless the mouse cursor was over the list when it appeared, no
activity is currently highlighted.
5. Press the down arrow key.

If you press enter instead of the down arrow key at step 5, it adds in
the activity at the top of the list. This seems to show that it is
selected, but just isn't highlighted.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

The current selection in a menu or list will always be highlighted.
