I no longer have to unplug and replug the device for the X login screen, though I will point out that once you log in, it's now being treated as a bluetooth keyboard, which makes the initial configuration of it somewhat unexpected and convoluted (having to pair it as a bluetooth keyboard on the host before it'll let it connect).
