550856 seems to be a feature request regarding automatic cropping in
simple scan. This bug is about simple scan ignoring the set page size
and scanning in a different size document.
I have the same symptoms with simple scan and xsane on Ubuntu 10.04 on
a Brother MFC-7820N network scanner. Scan size is fine with a Mac.
