I had a similar problem with Maverick (64bit) in VBox during "sudo apt-
get upgrade":
(gtk-update-icon-cache:3312): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Cannot open pixbuf
loader module file '/usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache': No
such file or directory
Below it was written:
W: libwmf0.2-7 is already removed. It is recommended to run defoma-app
purge libwmf0.2-7
so I did the following:
sudo defoma-app purge libwmf0.2-7
(I dont remember the output, but it was something like: run "defoma-
reconfigure -f"). I typed in
sudo defoma-reconfigure -f
and it worked

package libgdk-pixbuf2.0-dev 2.21.6-2ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: trying
to overwrite '/usr/share/man/man1/gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders.1.gz', which is also
in package libgtk2.0-bin 2.21.2-0ubuntu6
