Thanks everyone for all your testing and invaluable feedback. I was
also able reproduce the described issues with the Ubuntu package for
mp3fs version 0.21. As far as my analysis goes, the problem is caused
by the removal of the local talloc library (mp3fs comes with its own
copy of talloc) and the introduction of a new dependency to the talloc
library that is shipped with Ubuntu. There seems to be some backwards
incompatibility issues that cause problems with the current
implementatin of mp3fs. I'd recommend to revert the latest patch
("01-drop_local_talloc.patch" in
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/mp3fs_0.21-0ubuntu1.debian.tar.gz)
in the Ubuntu package and let mp3fs have it's own local copy for now.
This is also due to the fact that there are plans to replace talloc with
simple malloc calls in the mp3fs project in the future.
