Before:
$ dpkg -l | grep dancer

Just tried installing again.
After:
$ dpkg -l | grep dancer
iF dancer-ircd 1.0.36-8ubuntu1
an IRC server designed for centrally maintained
network
ii dancer-services 1.8.0.6.3-6
IRC services implementation for dancer-ircd
On the bright side, dancer-services installed without problems.
During the install:
Setting up dancer-ircd (1.0.36-8ubuntu1) ...
chgrp: cannot access `/etc/dancer-ircd/olines': No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing dancer-ircd (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
dancer-ircd
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Looks like it fails over some olines file? Touching the file and then
reinstalling dancer-ircd did the trick.
