To answer your question:  It seems to me that given how many distros are
based upon Ubuntu, making things easy to rebrand makes the most sense
for everybody.  There is no particular reason printer test pages need to
be branded at all, regardless of what the distro branding is.

But if that's Canonical/Ubuntu's position, I suppose there's not much
more to say.
