This is an annoying and persistent bug. Turning off paragraph auto-
numbering fails. There is no way to number paragraphs manually. When I
insert paragraph numbers, the auto feature continues to overide manual
and insists on numbering paragraphs according to the feature. Result is
big fail when drawing up a legal document for example.

Fact that I even want to turn off the feature means the feature is nowhere near
perfect
Paragraph autonumber in Ooo is abysmal and a big time-sink with regards
to productivity
Chief reason why people find themselves wanting to switch back to MS
Office.
I have already tried to file a bug with Ooo but was referred back to the
Ubuntu devs for distribution specific package.
