Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: pavucontrol
Problem: If I left, middle or right mouse click on the button where apps
and devices are getting their output from, nothing happens (ie: no drop
down list).
Solution: Right clicking the button to give it some sort of tab order
focus, followed by the space bar, seems to activate the custom dropdown
style menus used in this UI. The standard UI dropdown list button seems
to work properly though.
