The amplifier is on, it works under Windows. I checked with alsamixer, aplay -l, qjackctl, kmix to make sure I was not missing any interfaces. "You shoudl also delete .asoundrc* in your home directory, as these files are no longer needed, and in fact break proper sound functionality." I had to use them because Kubuntu does not have pulseaudio, and I needed the HDA card being the first one (instead of HDMI) so that programs such as flashplugin could output audio correctly. If there is a better way to do so, I'm eager to hear it ! :-) But I can still temporary move these files to see whether the problem disappear.
