This kind of issue is usually due to a hang, crash, hard reset,...
during an upgrade. You can recover from it with the command 'sudo dpkg
--configure -a'
I also noticed may errors like the following in your term.log:
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libicu42_4.2.1-3_i386.deb
(--unpack):
corrupted filesystem tarfile - corrupted package archive
This is often caused by a hardware error. You can recover from it with the
command:
$ sudo apt-get clean
$ sudo apt-get update
Then try performing the upgrade again.
Finally, the main error with this upgrade is:
dpkg: regarding .../openoffice.org-core_1%3a3.2.0-7ubuntu4.1_i386.deb
containing openoffice.org-core:
openoffice.org-core conflicts with openoffice.org-calc (<< 1:3.2.0-7ubuntu4.1)
openoffice.org-calc (version 1:3.1.1-5ubuntu1.2) is present and installed.
Which in turn is caused by openoffice.org-calc failing to upgrade with the error
Preparing to replace openoffice.org-calc 1:3.1.1-5ubuntu1.2 (using
.../openoffice.org-calc_1%3a3.2.0-7ubuntu4.1_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement openoffice.org-calc ...
lzma: Decoder error
dpkg-deb: subprocess <decompress> returned error exit status 1
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/openoffice.org-
calc_1%3a3.2.0-7ubuntu4.1_i386.deb (--unpack):
short read in buffer_copy (backend dpkg-deb during
`./usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.2/program/libxlsxli.so')
Which is once again usually caused by either a faulty hard drive or
corrupted memory.
So none of the error is due specific bug in a particular package but
it's rather a hardware problem. You should run a memory check and a
filesystem check. You may find traces of such a problem in the log file
/var/log/messages.
I'm closing this report because of the above explanation but you can reopen it
if you think that's not the problem.
Thanks and don't hesitate to submit any new bug you may find.
