Yes, of course, in this sense blank DVD-RW Restricted Overwrite is 
non-finalized, too. But multi-track aka multi-border DVD is something beyond 
specs, AFAIK there is always a single track.
These statuses reported by the drive are valid, this is rather a dirty 
(although working) patch, but they could not be interpreted in the same way as 
they are in case of the cd, and moreover, they don't provide sufficient 
information.
Although it's working now, I'd rather pass to GNOME (and make it understand) 
some kind of abstract information like 0 - "blank/writable/appendable", 1 - 
"complete rewritable", 2 - "complete read only", 3 - "unformatted/media not 
ready" along with the original status. This is just an idea, but it would look 
more clean and logical than twiddling with the status reported by the drive.
