Not sure why I didn't reply earlier.... Removing the iRiver entry in Amarok does not enable the iRiver to be seen automatically.
The device is listed in kinfocenter's usb list. Also, Amarok does automatically detect Mass Storage Devices (such as the memory stick for my camera) and try to manage them. Other than this though, the iRiver now works great in Amarok. It connects nicely, my flac files are encoded to mp3 and transfered at a reasonable pace.... Thanks for a great product. I'm glad I made the change from Rhythmbox.
