Yeah, there's something wrong with the sources list. I'm guessing it was
a typo (typing error) in the command.

Again, sorry for repetition, here's how you can paste the code that has
the problem.

"Open up the file browser, and select "Filesystem" in the sidebar. Open
up the folder etc, then apt. In that folder there will be a file called
sources.list. Open it with Gedit (right click), and paste the contents
here."

I get this when I try to open Synaptic...it doesn't say where to repoort it so 
here it is: E: malformed line 43 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (URI 
parse) E: the list of sources could not be read. Go to the repository dialog to 
correct the problem. E:_ cache>open()failed, please report
