Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

Whenever I try to install any package through synaptic, it continuously
pops up window saying :-

'Please insert the disk labeled:
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS _Lucid Lynx_ - Release i386 (20100427.1)
in drive /cdrom/'

even if i insert the Ubuntu 10.04 disk, it gets unmounted automatically
and the same message flashes again and again.

And Synaptic never finishes downloading the packages.
