Hi Stephen,
Whilst I don't find that these things make 'Software Centre to be
anywhere near as good as its predecessor' you are still free to install
gnome-app-install if you prefer it over SC.
On your first point, I agree that this may be useful to some users,
however you would need to find the best way to integrate this. A bug
report is not the best place to discuss such things and so could you add
your ideas to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter/Comments?
On your second point, ratings and reviews are being added for
Maverick/Maverick+1, there is already a bug for this and so I am marking
this as a duplicate of that.
