@nnutter -- thanks for those.  One thing which jumps out in the dmesg is
that maverick has a touch screen driver for your machine whereas lucid
does not.  Could you try rmmod hid-cando (or blacklist that module,
reboot), then re-test suspend/resume on the Maverick kernel for us.
