This situation is still the case in GRUB Legacy, and so this bug shouldn't be closed against grub. However, it is fixed in grub2 with a new feature: you can write the full name of a menu entry in GRUB_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub, rather than its number.
Thus, instead of GRUB_DEFAULT=2, you can write something like: GRUB_DEFAULT='Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.35-14-generic' This is more descriptive and less error-prone. -- Default OS (grub) changed by addition of backup entries https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/55400 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
