It appears that this bug is fix for cifs mount in 2.30 (according to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336738#c35). I still encountered this bug using sshfs with 2.30 (Ubuntu 10.04).
So I'm not sure that the sshfs and cifs/smbfs trouble is the same one and maybe there should be 2 separate bugs. I also would like to know if the patch applied in Robie Basak's package can still be use for gedit 2.30 ?
