@~JFo: Thanks, Jeremy, for replying. My case at this very moment has changed radically. Since there was not much activity concerning this problem, I decided to upgrade to Ubunto 10.04 LTS, Lucid Lynx, hoping that a new version would solve it. And, indeed, until this moment it seems to have laid fingers on it! Thanks anyway! BillyV
